A more direct translation, reflecting the more direct nature of the original Japanese text would have been much better. More isn't always better, clearly. But I wonder if there might be another issue here that I think also affects amateurs more, and maybe someone can put this more succinctly than I: It's something like the desire to justify why they're being paid by doing more than they ought. Like a cook putting way too many spices and sauces on a steak to make it "impressive" and seem worth the money you spent on it when actually just salt and pepper would've been better and worth more to the consumer. It takes a good chef to know when his ingredients are good to not mess with it by just adding and adding. It takes a good writer to do the same.

Tragic. I was hoping it would be solid even if creative translation, like the one with Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre or Triangle Strategy.
I noticed this too with the localization for 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim. The English script does not align with the Japanese dialogue.
I would say it isn't that bad, but then I got to the Alain quotes...yikes.
