The Playstation version was good. You can run in the overworld by pressing a button. The thing that I remember is how enormous the world felt; I'm pretty sure Nintendo Power published a complete mapset in one of their special editions. The other thing that I remember is the feeling of discovering the AIR SHIP. That was really cool!
The downside of the PS1 version was the loading screens, which, combined with the high encounter rate, can bog you down. Otherwise, I think it's a good version, and I think it fixes some of the bugs on the original.
I was never much of a gamer, but I always really liked this one and I have the iPhone version loaded up for those rare times I feel like tuning out the world.
I mean, it has a high encounter rate, but you don't really have to stop and grind to progress like in some other games, especially compared to certain MMOs where you can spend a whole day grinding for one level.
Plus, the game, even with those high encounters, feels the right length.
It can. A lot of people just grind around the Peninsula of Power area before making the trip to Elfland. Party composition matters a lot. If you don't have a BlackMage or RedMage then you might do better grinding around the desert West of Pravoka and South of Matoya's Lair. If your party is 4 WhiteMages, just stick to Corneria for grinding out the first 20 levels.
Nice, piece!

I bought the iOS version for some long plane flights and it definitely paid for itself.
Watching you play through this game was some of the most fun I've had on YouTube.
It was a lot of un.

It's not impossible, just absurd. This dude did it: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKiHAuZST38mRj_2BbeRFG9dcYf-PShXe
Personally I got a lot more satisfaction out of 4X BlackMage and 4X BlackBelt.
You stole my thunder, but yes it's like that. We mostly didn't notice in the NES days.
We had no idea what we were doing back then with the bugs. You just didn't really realize INT didn't work at all.
Preach it!
