Good post. It's nice to know I'm not alone in understanding not all screens are the same.
I upgraded to a flip phone because a smart phone was too much dopamine and damaging mentally [most critically creatively].
It's really saddening to see my peers do everything with a phone in hand. To sit or walk or wait around without entertaining yourself with your phone is a lost art. You could do anything and no one will notice you because they're too buried in their phones. It's crazy.
I know when I eventually have kids, it'll be a challenge to instill screen discipline in them. Tho I'll try to get them hooked on the positive uses of screen time rather than the negative.
It's all about controlling what you do with technology. I think it's perfectly OK to waste time doomscrolling when you're stuck in line. It's ideal, really. But at home? I think it's better to do a deeper activity even if that has a lot more friction.

Same here, 100%, and when I mention this, it's always thoroughly ignored. Four legs good and all that.
